Jason Mochizuki joined The NRP Group in 2014 as a Development Project Manager and now serves as Vice President of Development for market rate, affordable, and attainable housing properties in North Carolina.
In this role, his primary responsibilities include site selection, contract negotiation, rezoning, concept site development, oversight of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit applications and financial underwriting. He has expertise working on a variety of projects across the multifamily spectrum, from suburban garden style apartments financed by tax credits to Class A urban infill high-rise developments.
Throughout his tenure at NRP, Mochizuki has developed and closed nearly 2,200 units in Charlotte, Matthews, and Johnston County. These apartment homes correspond to four affordable communities, three market rate communities, and one workforce community. In his previous role at NRP, Mochizuki was in charge of debt and equity closings for over $282 million of Class A multifamily investments in North Carolina, Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania. He managed all aspects of project predevelopment including entitlements, soft cost budgeting and environmental remediation.
Prior to joining NRP, Mochizuki managed a $65 million commercial real estate loan portfolio as a relationship manager for United Security Bank in California. His responsibilities included originating new loans, restructuring troubled real estate assets and managing client relationships for a diverse portfolio of commercial office/retail, single and multifamily residential, hospitality, self-storage and affordable housing.
Mochizuki holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Northwestern University and an MBA with an emphasis in real estate from the University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business. He is a member of the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance and the Urban Land Institute.
