Jim McDonald joined The NRP Group in 2014 as a Regional Manager, and after five years was named Regional Vice President of market rate operations and third-party management. 

In this role he is responsible for overseeing a national portfolio comprised of 26 market rate communities totaling nearly 7,300 units with an annual rent roll of roughly $140 million.  He currently heads a talented leadership group of eight Senior Regional/Regional Property Managers and their onsite teams.

During his tenure, Jim’s teams have successfully added on average four new lease-ups per year and completed disposition of seven assets, both creating opportunity for team growth and value for NRP.  Jim and his team continue to focus on enhancing the resident experience, generating value, and preserving NRP assets as best in class operators.

Jim’s property management career began as a leasing agent in Chicago in 1996.  Prior to joining The NRP Group in 2014, Mr. McDonald spent nine years working for major REITs in the property management field. He spent five years with Equity Residential and four years with Archstone Smith where he worked as a manager and regional manager. Mr. McDonald has extensive experience with lease-ups, stabilizing assets, and renovation projects. He has worked in major markets including New York City, Chicago and Washington DC.

McDonald graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in Economics.
