Karl J. Alt joined The NRP Group in 2017 as Director of Horizontal Design and Entitlement and now serves in the role of Project Operations Executive in the Mid-Atlantic region.

In this role, he is accountable for the operational management, quality, productivity, and profitability of a regional portfolio of multifamily housing projects. Leading cross-functional teams, the role ensures seamless integration of project elements—from due diligence to construction completion—while maximizing shareholder value, fostering local relationships, and driving operational excellence aligned with NRP’s strategic objectives. An architect by trade, Alt has significant experience designing and entitling both luxury and affordable multifamily communities of the highest quality.

Before joining NRP, Alt held the position of Vice President at Westbrook Properties, where he led the execution and delivery of the award-winning Crown Farm redevelopment—a vibrant mixed-use community in Gaithersburg, MD. This development features 2,250 residential units and more than 300,000 square feet of commercial space, distributed across six distinct neighborhoods. It also includes a city park and plans for a future public high school.

Earlier in his career, Alt served as a development manager at Foulger-Pratt Development, based in Montgomery County, MD. There, he oversaw all phases of the development process, with a strong focus on the firm’s flagship Park Potomac project. This mixed-use development includes a diverse array of components: apartments, condominiums, brownstone townhomes, a grocery store, office buildings, and a public plaza.

Prior to his time at Foulger-Pratt, Alt worked as a Senior Project Manager at SHW Group LLP Architects & Engineers. In that role, he specialized in the design and construction of educational facilities throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

Alt earned his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Maryland. He also served as a U.S. Army Ranger in the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg and in the Maryland National guard. Outside of work, he coaches lacrosse and enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.
