As Principal and President of Development at The NRP Group, Ken Outcalt has been instrumental in transforming the company into one of the nation’s premier multifamily developers.
Outcalt began his career with The NRP Group in 2003 as a Development Project Manager and held positions of increasing responsibility until 2016 when he was elevated to NRP Principal and President of NRP Development.
Under Outcalt’s stewardship, The NRP Group has achieved remarkable milestones including the development of over 55,000 units across affordable, workforce, and market rate properties; deployment of $11 billion in capital over the past decade; dispositions totaling $3 billion of market rate assets; and consistently ranking among the top developers and builders in the U.S. by the National Multifamily Housing Council and Affordable Housing Finance Magazine.
Outcalt’s forward-thinking approach has led to NRP’s expansion into key markets including DC Metro, New York, Boston, Atlanta, Las Vegas, and Phoenix. He continues to work diligently to diversify the product portfolio and build on the NRP tradition of providing a healthy balance of market rate, affordable, and workforce communities, an approach that enables NRP to thrive during the full spectrum of market cycles and economic conditions.
Outcalt’s team benefits from the long-term tenure of developers and staff who have remained loyal to NRP and share his passion for the company’s core values. He works with each developer to formulate goals that are uniquely tailored to their business and market. He has also developed creative compensation programs that align developer goals with support departments and overall NRP corporate goals. Outcalt is known for his keen ability to build internal consensus, lead the NRP project pipeline, and deliver on his commitments to the many partners and stakeholders of NRP.
In his civic activities, Outcalt previously served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Positive Education Program, Greater Cleveland’s largest non-profit agency providing special education and mental health services to troubled children. He also currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, the Cleveland Clinic VeloSano Steering Committee and volunteers as a mentor and Board member for College Now Greater Cleveland. Outcalt graduated with a Bachelor of Science in urban and regional studies from Cornell University in 1993 and earned an MBA from the University of Michigan in 1999. He resides with his wife and three children in Pepper Pike, Ohio.
