Rachel Johnson joined The NRP Group in 2010 as an Asset Manager and was promoted to Chief Information Officer in 2012.
In 2022, she was elevated to Principal and Executive Team Member, reflecting her role as a strategic leader shaping NRP’s long-term growth and operational scalability. Johnson leads all aspects of technology across the enterprise, including IT Infrastructure & Operations, Enterprise Applications and Business Solutions, Data & Analytics, Property Technology, and Cybersecurity. Her work sits at the intersection of business strategy, risk management, and innovation, ensuring technology directly enables NRP’s vertically integrated development, construction, and property management platform.
Since her arrival, NRP has grown from approximately 350 employees to more than 1,100, expanded multifamily production significantly, and grown its managed portfolio to over 30,000 units valued at more than $2.5 billion. Technology innovation under Johnson’s leadership has been a key driver of this scale. During her tenure, The NRP Group has consistently ranked among the Top 10 largest developers and builders in the U.S. and has become the nation’s leading developer delivering both affordable and market-rate housing at scale.
Johnson has led multiple enterprise-wide transformations, including the modernization of NRP’s cloud and hybrid infrastructure, implementation of advanced data and analytics platforms, digitization of core development, construction, and property management workflows, and the integration of best-in-class enterprise applications across the organization. More recently, her focus has centered on artificial intelligence strategy, automation of knowledge-intensive workflows, secure data access, and enterprise cybersecurity, ensuring innovation is deployed responsibly and at scale.
She is currently driving NRP’s AI and digital strategy, emphasizing practical, ROI-driven use cases such as compliance automation, operational intelligence, predictive insights, and improved collaboration across business units—while maintaining rigorous governance, privacy, and security controls. Johnson is known for aligning emerging technologies with real-world business outcomes and for building platforms that integrate seamlessly across devices, systems, and teams.
Johnson serves on the Board of Zoning Appeals for the Village of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, a mayor-appointed body responsible for reviewing commercial and residential zoning matters. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting with a minor in Management Information Systems from Miami University.
