The Independence is a multifamily housing community in partnership with the McKinney Housing Finance Corporation (MHFC) that brings approximately 236 units of quality new apartment homes, to be leased at an affordable rate to residents earning at or below 50-70% of the area median income. All apartment homes are equipped with Energy Star rated appliances, ceiling fans, energy efficient light fixtures, large living areas, spacious closets, full-size washer/dryer connections, and modern low-flow water-saving plumbing fixtures. Community amenities include a clubhouse, complete with full-service kitchen, a leasing office, a business center with computers, printers and Wi-Fi, a fitness center, laundry facilities, mail kiosks, a children’s playscape, BBQ grills with picnic areas, and a resort-style swimming pool with sun deck. Resident services include health and wellness fairs, NRP’s own HOMEWORK First after-school program, arts and crafts, notary services, financial, computer and literacy classes. All services are offered at no additional cost to residents.
